The game began fast for the hosts as a determined run from Jack Diamond saw the winger cut the ball back across the edge of the box for Danny Mandroiu to curl first time into the top right corner. A goal in the first 6 minutes set the game up for the Imps to push on.
The remainder of the first half was compiled of few chances for either team with both sets of forwards frustrated by offside decisions and skewed chances.
The halftime whistle blew with the Imps’ one goal lead intact.
An early second half substitution saw TJ Eyoma replaced by Lasse Sorensen to fill in at Right Wing-Back.
Continued MK pressure led to a huge chance when a cross reached Eisa at the back post whose header was cleared off the line by Paudie O’Connor.
This moment sparked the game to life and the Imps were quick to launch a counter-attack which resulted in a chance for Diamond to strike, but his effort was deflected wide.
The Imps’ second substitution came in the 67th minute when Crystal Palace loanee Luke Plange was replaced by Ben House.
The 71st minute saw the next big chance of the game when Lasse Sorensen broke down the right to cross to counterpart Harry Boyes who was unable to find the back of the net.
MK broke on the counter from that chance and forced a great save from Carl Rushworth, denying Dons substitute Will Grigg.
Another chance fell to the head of an MK Dons player in the 78th minute as Rushworth stood tall again to catch the headed attempt.
Two subs followed for the Imps as Kennedey replaced Diamond and Bishop with Shodipo and Sanders.
Entering the final 10 minutes of the game, Lincoln won a corner through an attempted Mide Shodipo cross. The resulting corner didn’t prove to cause any damage however as the Imps continued to protect their lead.
As MK went chasing the equaliser a low ball was drilled across the box from winger Jonathan Leko but Rushworth was again equal to it and held onto the ball well.
Mandroui looked to recreate his magical strike in the first half as he struck from the edge of the box. The effort was deflected onto the post.
Unfortunately for the Imps, draws have been the sign of their season so far and an 89th minute deflected volley from Paris Maghoma looped into the net off Mandroui.
A tussle between Eisa and Roughan resulted in the latter taking a kick off the ball, a sign of frustration from both players.
The last kick of the game saw a Dons freekick go just wide and the referee blew the full-time whistle.
The point sees Lincoln remain unbeaten at home, but a feeling of disappointment about the result would not be unjust from the home support.
The Imps are now 14th in the table on 41 points after 32 games.
